Rumor Control Thread

I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread where anyone can post the facts as they receive them regarding training in the aftertmath of Hurricane Ivan. We all have already heard several rumors about delays in training, relocating, etc. I'm very anxious to find out what exactly will be going on with A-pool, API, primary at Whiting, etc.

So far, the latest I heard from anyone was that we were possibly going to have a physical muster for A-pool students today. It doesn't look like that is going to happen. Or maybe I am UA. If I am then so are several of my buddies. I haven't gotten another call from flight management so if anyone else has more recent word, post it here please.

Also I've seen information regarding when API was supposed to start back up, where it's supposed to be, and stuff like that. Also the same about Primary. But I only want to post on here what I know to be fact.

So, please keep it limited to the facts or what you perceive to be reliable enough to put money on. And please..... please...... no off-topic posts from people who don't know anything about what's going on, especially those in Texas, unless your active duty Navy that is. Thanks.

Also, here is a really interesting link that the Pensacola News Journal put up that shows some satellite photography of the damage caused by Ivan. There are several shots of the base including schools command and the buildings along the seawall. Sherman Cove Marina also seems to have taken it extra hard. There are a lot of photos to look at and they aren't all oriented with north pointing up so you may have to figure out how you're looking at them before you can realize what you're looking at.

As far as I know the first physical muster is this monday, the 27th. I am in API though, so it may be different for A-pool.

Sounds like most of what you're saying is rumor! One thing you have to learn about the training command is that EVERYTHING is rumor until it HAPPENS! Word changes so fast at so many levels that no one really knows what's going on.

I have also been told 0630 Monday morning for muster. But that is for A-pool. It might be different for API, I can't speak to that.

Anything that I will post on here will have come from somebody official, at least on the A-pool side. If you choose to believe what you read on here or not is your business. But I don't really care if you choose to believe it or not, so keep it to yourself.

I'm also not interested in life lessons about training command. I'm only trying to get info on what will be going on during the next few days or weeks. If I post something that turns out not to be true I will make that known and change the info. Thanks for your concern anyways.

All,

IVAN Information.

Yesterdays VDC provided some information but was geared more toward
enlisted training. The only direction we have so far is hold
individuals in place until further notice. We expect more information
by early October. If you have someone transferring in early October
they can delay the move for around 30 days at this point. I believe
that future mods will further extend their hold time but 30 days
should
give us enough time to work out the details.

Very Respectfully,

AGAIN DEL-TEATED

MSG DTG 242158 (UNCLAS) from CNO: Pers. reporting to NAS Pensacola, Correy, Whiting, or Saufley Field between 14 Sep and 31 Oct are on a stop hold status.

I'm supposed to report NLT 22 Nov, so ALL my fingers are crossed right now.

I am supposed to report NLT 05 NOV. I am holding out zero hope. The only thing I am hoping for right now is that I don't end up spending 2 years in Tennessee, Mississippi, or somewhere equally boring in comparison to Florida.

usna briefed that Nov5 and later classes should not be affected by the stop order. Plans could change if they can't meet training demands but that was the plan as of yesterday. I assume things will back up class-up dates a little more after reporting since 3-4 classes will be reporting within a week of one another but what do I know?

Don't know why my post above was "edited," e-mails shotgunned to the general public (like the one I posted) are typically fair game for public dissemination. This NAVADMIN is available to the public on the www.bupers.navy.mil website.

If the concern by "EnsSquid" is personal opsec...you are correct this forum is lacking that particular attribute by many players.
