Security Clearance Transfer

Does anyone know the process for transferring a clearance? I currently have a non-Dod clearance (I have checked and can be converted to a DoD), and was wondering if having it converted is done automatically by DSS, or if I need to initiate it?

I "think" that the DOD will have to have the paperwork from your non-DOD employer - Once they get it they can process your clearance for the Dept. of Defense. I was in school with numerous reserve Intel. Officers and IS's who did this. I know it's a matter of getting the right paperwork to the DOD.

My suggestion is to ask your DOD point of contact to request the paperwork.

robin, thanks for the input. I think the "DoD P.O.C." is the root of my problem. I have no DoD contact, due to my clearance being for a non-DoD agency. so the usual DD254's and such don't apply. i'll giveit a shot.
