Selected as Alternate?

I just got my results from the April 12 IDC Board and was selected as an alternate for the SWO/IW option. Anyone else been selected as an alternate before? I was just curious about how long I am considered an alternate before I need to resubmit. It would also be nice to know what my chances of going actually are, but I don't think there is anyway to find that out.

I am a FY12 Alternate/FY13 Select for IP, but when it posted in BOL it only showed FY12 Altnernate - which left me a bit uncertain on what to expect. I just spoke with the a Flt Processor and gained confirmation that I am a FY12 Alt/FY13 Select - he explained that the system (BOL) does not allow for the FY13 info to be entered. So the billet is secured (pending FS), but I just won't go to OCS until FY13 (or at least a class that graduates after Oct 1). I think you may be in the same situation. I will PM you the contact info for the Flt Processor who helped me on this.

*Asking out of sheer ignorance*

So they are selecting already for FY13 with FY12 alternates? Outstanding for the alternate, but it seem like it will suck down the road for new applicants next year.

Yes, that is my understanding. If you figure that the OCS classes that graduate after 01Oct (with convene dates as early as late July) will be filling FY13 quotas, they would have to select them now to get them processed and ready to ship in the next few months.

Yes, it does seem like it would lower the quotas for those applying next year, unless this is how it is generally done and the boards in the spring of 2013 will be filling the FY14 quotas, I'm not sure on that...

How did you find out I was pro'rec?

I apologize if I came across that way. Your post read like you were informed of a pro'rec but weren't exactly sure if you were an alternate or not. Unless you are in the Richmond Va area (I'm pals with the Officer Recruiter there) I have no way of knowing.

for those that were FY12 alt and FY13 select know that you are really an FY13 select, FY12 shipped everyone for IDC, minus 4 IW's

The IDC board went on a tangent and selected for programs already closed for this FY.
