Do you get to choose what type of aircraft you'll fly (Helo, Jet, prop)? How is that determined? Thanks

This has been discussed over and over but the short version is:

Go to Primary: unless you graduate #1, it depends upon the needs of the Corps, your grades, and your preference - in that order.
This determines jets, props, helos.

Advanced is the same (whether jet advanced or helo advanced) as above: needs of the Corps, your grades, and your preference - in that order.
This determines which specific jet or helo you get (only 1 prop - the C-130)

I’m not sure if that was sarcasm or what; understand that this forum has everyone from HS kids to SNA’s to 0-5’s and even some of the retired warriors. The process of selection is perhaps the most discussed topic next to “what are my chances,” so be prepared for some sarcasm when you ask a question that has been beat to death.
If you want a more intelligent answer, look in phrogdriver or 46driver’s profile for the helo side or Jarhead and Frumby’s profile for the jet side, and you can click on non-archived posts to see every thread that they’ve written in. If you ask something based off a reply, you’re bound to get a better answer – just my $.02
The way slots are really determined is with the magic eight ball. I saw it over at one of the VTs, you shake it up and it let’s you know whether you are an attrite, helo bubba or jet-jock.
