Aide to Senator Webb was apparently arrested for carrying an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammo (Washington DC). Handgun was apparently loaded and was seized when the aide tried to enter building on Capitol Hill (Rayburn I think). Aide claimed it belonged to the Senator, whom he has just dropped off at the airport.

I think he's referring to the inherent pun in the fact that the man's job is to make laws yet he doesn't find it necessary to follow them.

Yah, been up too long... sort of punch-drunk. As I understand it, Webb had the gun (his gun - congresscritters and senators are allowed to carry), handed it to his assistant, who subsequently got caught with it. Not like he was about to start shooting up the place or anything.

I sure am glad they are enforcing those gun and ammo laws in DC. Next time I visit I'll feel 100% safe now that I know they are making sure aides of senators and common peasants aren't armed.
