SIAP: GPA calculation & other questions

I have been interested in applying for OCS but am concerned about the competitiveness of my GPA (3.29) especially since it is non-STEM (MBA). Are they only going to look at my GPA for my most recent degree or will they also factor in my undergrad GPA (3.90; also non-STEM). If they include both, is there some kind of weighting system (i.e. grad GPA being weighted higher) or is it a straight shot by means of credit hours?

Given my background which designators would be most realistic (SWO/Supply/SNA)? I honestly am most interested in obtaining a commision in the military and would like to join any designator (or branch, as I would like to apply for Army OCS as well) that I would be appropriate for.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

In a perfect world, what would you LIKE to do, designator or branch-wise? Apply for that as your number one choice. Don't fret that your educational background needs to drive the process. It MAY influence the end result, based on a lot of factors, but that shouldn't be your going in position. I know too many Forestry majors who have made great fighter pilots, if you get my drift.

Thanks for the reply,

I would say that my preference would be either Supply or SWO based on my limited knowledge. I would give a slight edge to Supply, but I've heard that SWO is comparatively less competitive and from what I've read on this site it seems they place a strong emphasis on where you place them on your order of preference.
It seems Supply matches my education background a bit more closely, though, as SWO seems a bit more technical.

SNA-wise, if it was an option for me to be commisioned I think I would be ecstatic, but I'm not sure I share the passion for aviation that many have on this site. Not having a love for flying might set me up for failure and I might be wasting everyone's time by pursuing that, esp. considering I have an aversion to certain airframes (jets).

Basically I'm wondering how I can shuffle my wish-list to improve my odds.

Have you talked to a recruiter yet? If not, get in touch with one to break down the process as well as your competitiveness for each program. He or she will also help determine which program(s) would be ideal to apply for.

Also, if you search around here you can find both how GPA is calculated as well as the competitive profile for most officer programs.

I had zero passion for aviation when I joined. I was going for SWO when my recruiter mentioned I ought to give SNA a shot (he was a SWO and told me to trust him). My qualifications at that point were "I know that Bernoulli's principle is a thing" and "I don't hate flying Southwest."

Couldn't peel me away from this job for anything now.
