SNFO to SNA?

Selected for SNFO
Any one here know about changing designator from NFO to Pilot at API, some tell me it can be done, others say I'd need to serve a sea tour as NFO first.
Any thoughts?

Initially, the rumor was that if you graduate in top 10%, you could convert. This was only true when they needed pilots. This program is not happenning any more. My friend is now in NFO primary, and he was second in his class... He loves what he does...

I see you are a grad student so I will assume you are an applicant or considering applying. That being the case do not take NFO if you are set on a pilot transfer. It is very rare, especially now. We are talking from zero to a few dozen a year and no one can predict it. Good luck
