So they stopped chopping off females' hair at OCS?

I heard some scuttlebutt that they are putting an end to the time honored tradition of the boy-ish haircuts they give females at OCS. Can anyone confirm this?

For some strange reason, I hope this isn't true. Oddly enough, I was looking forward to the tradition of that crappy haircut should I ever be lucky enough to be accepted to OCS of course. It's not like hair doesn't grow back (even if it does take a while and it's a really bad cut).

Someone probably filed a hurt feelings report. Lot of that going around these days. Sorry to hear it.

The new CO was around a lot when I was there (just commissioned on 30 July), and we heard that he was appalled at how bad they were getting chopped.

So is there an additional hour of styling time allotted each morning for the ladies to fix up their 'doos?

"Come on candidate! You've only got another half hour and you're barely getting your rollers in NOW?!?"

The only time I felt bad for the hair cuts were when females were NPQ'd or something after they went through the treatment. Some girls can really pull off the look though after they see a professional hair stylist after they commission.

I wish this rumor were true, since I will be going to OCS next month. Last I heard (July) females were still getting their hair cut.

Part of the reason I heard they quit cutting the girls hair like that is because they don't do it to the females at other commissioning sources. It was always obvious where these females had come from when reporting to their next command after commissioning. Not to mention, there is a regulation that says how short it should be and cutting it completely off like that is not it.
