Specwar And Specops.

Just curious, does anyone know the ifference between SPECWAR 1180 and SPECOPS 1190. I saw these options on my PRODOCS checklist. I know one is SEAL, but what is the other?

I believe SPECOPS (1190) is EOD.

1180 is SEAL candidate.

I believe SPECOPS (1190) is EOD.

1190 is actually their training designator. Once qual'd, they are 1140.

Likewise, 1180 is the training designator for a SEAL, once they pin on their trident, they are 1130.

SPECOPS - in the Navy, at least - is EOD, Dive/Salvage, Mine Warfare (or whatever they're calling it now).

SPECWAR is "the Teams," including Special Boat and SEAL Delivery - basically, anyone who wears the Budweiser.

Not sure where Riverine and other Expeditionary cats and dogs get lumped in these days.
