Hey guys im brand new to the forum but I just had a few questions regarding the ASTB. I have searched some of the posts and I have a good idea of what I need to study to prepare for the test, but in these days of very limited slots, I know this test is a major factor to getting the nod, and I just want to make sure I have everything I need at my disposal. This is what I have so far:
-ARCO guides (officer test and flight aptitude test)
-Cliff guides (" ")
-FAR/AIM and numerous other aviation books
-"gouges" (have a couple websites, but if you guys could list everyone
you know of that would be awesome)
-nautical information (the website that numerous people have posted)
already. Is that the most you need to know?
I know thats a pretty complete list but if theres anything else that anyone can list please do. Also, as far as basic knowledge about the Navy, wheres a good place to learn the basics or book in particular. Thanks guys! I was directed to this forum by a current naval aviator and this forum def seems to have a wealth of information on it! Awesome place for current and prospective aviators... good luck to everyone! :icon_tong

You seem to have all that you need for the ASTB. You don't really need to know anything about the Navy for the test, except for aircraft types and designators, but the nautical stuff may show up on your test depending on what form you take. Good Luck!!

What of someone who is about to take the OAR, what would you advice them to study or concentrate on?
