I am a first year student at PSU and have been looking into becoming a Marine Corp. Pilot. Specifically the Helo's (AH-1 to be exact :icon_tong ). After scouting out some basic requirements i decided that joining the NROTC when i get to Main Campus might be my best bet to get started on the path. Are their anything at all any of you would suggest i get under my belt before joining up so my plans of becoming a Helicopter pilot come true? Thanks.

Also, a question on vision L=20/25 R= 20/30 not sure what they're corrected too as I never wear my glasses, but when they ask for corrected vision do they mean A) with glasses or B) Laser Surgery ?

I know nothing so I'll leave the advice giving to the more established members, but I just wanted to point out that it's the Marine Corps.

Good luck in whatever path you choose.

heh, my bad. I know my questions are kind of broad but anything however little helps, like tips to get prepared w/e, if i cant fly for Marines then its ground for me, just as long as its Marines. Kind of a family tradition (minus the flying part)

So, you wanna be a skid pilot, eh? So do the other 40% of Marines that don't want jets. It's gonna be competitive along the way, and at any time, you could lose your "guaranteed" flight contract for numerous reasons (mostly physical qualifications). Stay humble, because this is some of the stiffest competition you'll ever encounter. Whenever you think you might be getting a raw deal, just remember: the needs of the Corps outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one.

Yeah I heard from the forums and family. Is the Corps the only branch not to garuntee?

What do you mean guarantee? They will "guarantee" a flight spot. So does the Navy. No idea on AF or Army.

The "guarantee" is for the start of flight school as long as you are still physically qualified.

When do you plan on going to main campus? I'd look into the PLC program, because you can do that this summer. Do a search on the forums, but the brief overview is that it's Marine OCS broken up into 2 six-week summer sessions.

Advice to you...transfer to Pitt or 'Nova

Worst advice. Ever. :p
