I wasn't trying to stomp on you, just gave me a laugh. Nobody would pick the crappy jobs if they could choose.
 
The command you report to decides what job you get on your first tour- some commands will have you keep the same job for your whole tour, some actually have a rotation of sorts where they intentionally have you do different jobs to give you more experience, but what usually happens is you change jobs depending on what the command needs and your performance. It may be you get 'fired' or it may be that you're pretty good and end up getting the division that someone else got fired from - either way, if you go SWO, plan on doing every job, or at least something in every area, 'cause that's what you're there for - to learn the whole ship and how it works, people and equipment. Oh, and the rate at which you learn this is directly proportional to your quality of life. :)
