Well I am going to be taking the ASTB on june 18 th. I've been studying every chance I get but the mechanical comprehension and the math are kicking my but. Just took a pract test for the mechanical comrehension and got 16 out of 30. Know that sucks but plan to look over the ones I got wrong so I understand it better. If anyone could please post anything that they think might help I would really appreciate it.

Math is a real kick in the nuts. Last test is all math and only thirty minutes for thirty questions. The mechanical comp really is just about looking at the gears seeing which way they turn, and what certain levers are called. Just read up on it. The first three tests go towards your Officer candidate score, while the other three are individual scores that go towards aviation. Good luck on the ASTB, remember you can take it two more times if needed. good luck

I'm pretty sure that if you get half of the questions right, it will result in a 35 or 40. I thought I missed a lot of questions and still made a 51 on the OAR.

Good luck, it is easier than you think.

The first three tests go towards your Officer candidate score, while the other three are individual scores that go towards aviation.

That's bad gouge save for the first little part.

Academic Qualifications Rating (AQR): This score is affected by performance on all subtests, but the strongest influence is made by the Math Skills Test.

Pilot Flight Aptitude Rating (PFAR): This score is affected by performance on all subtests, but the greatest contribution is made by the Aviation & Nautical Info and Spatial Apperception Tests.

Flight Officer Flight Aptitude Rating (FOFAR): This score is affected by performance on all
subtests, but the strongest influence is made by the Math Skills Test.

Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR): This score is affected by performance on the first three subtests, Math Skills, Reading Comprehension, and Mechanical Comprehension.

Straight out of the NOMI ASTB overview.

Yea, I take mine on May 29 this thursday. I have been studying for the past month and a half when I had scheduled the test. I have two practice books. ARCO, seems to be the best from what I have read according to people that have already taken the test.
