Found this article hidden among all the Michael Jackson saga postings. The military confirms it, too. I hope he's doing alright but this is certainly not good. Consider it a reminder to never forget what was learned at SERE.

one of our sergeants IS (hes gone but not forgotten) related to Kristian Menchaca who was captured and tortured by Iraqi insurgents. She has pictures of him with her on her desk. Whenever I see that I think of the honor that man showed and the pain he suffered. She does not talk about it. My prayers go to the man that captured. A buddy of mine pulled over a motorcycle driven by an army NCO in uniform from Fort Hood last night. He had multiple traffic offenses and deserved a ticket at the least. I saw the Combat Infantryman Badge on his chest and I told my buddy to let him go. He asked me what it was and I explained it to him since he had never been in the military. I thanked him for his service, didnt say a word about my limited military experience, turned my unit's lights off and wished him good luck.

I don't know enough about how our ground troops operate over there to understand how this could happen, but its a shame. Hopefully we get some good tips from some locals and can pull off a miracle.
