I searched the archives for this story on the website of the Antelope Valley Press. No joy.

My stomach hurts from laughing so much. The Air Force scrambled in 1956 to down an arrant F6F Hellcat drone, but ended up like the gang that couldn't shoot straight littering the surrounding area with all sorts of ordnance (like rockets).

Neat story, interesting weapon system. Anyone know how the fire control system was supposed to work?
