I remember while shooting the **** with the gunny i was told that the poor bastards who go through PI at one point will look like the bugs ate them alive.

His feet werent that bad... just two big blisters on the end toes probably due to bad shoes that were too narrow toward the front. I guarantee you it wasn't as bad as it looked. And did you see the cut? NO STITCHES EVEN... I got shi* like that all the time playing college FB.

I saw worse at OCS. My end toes got cut up pretty badly on the 7 mile because I got issued a pair of the MARPAT boots that were too small and we weren't allowed to wear the black boots. I guess the Company Gunny's sprinting games on the parade deck didn't help after the hump was over...
If the boots fit, that wont happen.

I remember that exact crap after the 7 miler. I also spent my time running the company length during that hump due to a company billet. The jackass Cand. Co. 1stSgt fell out (was later dropped from OCS) and I had to make my 8th and final sprint to the front of the Co. formation to take his place. Afterwards the Co.Gysgt has us playing all those sprinting games. You should have seen my feet afterwards...

It's never good, but I doubt it's the kiss of death. He left because he was weak and feeble in every area. The staff knew they had to weed him out; it's probably the reason he had been assigned that billet in the first place.

Not always, sometimes they're assigned to stronger candidates in order to set the example for what should be done.

Ah, they are just blood blisters on his feet. If he just pokes a hole in 'em and drain 'em they'd be fine. It's not bad. My feet have looked way worse than that before (danceing on toe shoes... owwy) and I've lost quite a few toenails. I had one blister durring cross country my college freshmen year that they had to take me down to the football training room for (that's where their head trainer is located) to have him drain it... all the football guys thought it was the grossest thing in the world haha! I was like, ah, nice, just pop it and get it over with please! Anyway... if you know how to treat the blisters it's not that bad after you pop 'em it's like they weren't even there, just don't rip all the skin off of 'em! Oww!

Except at OCS the blisters never have a chance to heal. Prevention is the key, change your socks every chance you get, use foot powder, moleskiin on any hotspots.
