Time in PLC

I just got my orders for IFS today and I have a question about how my base pay will be affected by the time I have in the PLC program. I tried to search though old forums but I was unable to find any useful info.

I have about 3 years total for PLC and I remember being told a while back that this time counts towards base pay when you hit active duty. The pay charts indicate the pay scale according to years of service and i'm wondering if my pay will be equal to that of an O-1 with 3 years of service? I did not take any money from MCFAP during college but I did take $1800 from MCTAP once.

For those who entered the USMC via PLC, their time in service (Pay Entry Base Date) starts the day the check into PLC (in your case it sounds PLC Jrs.). So if you went to PLC Juniors 3 years ago, when you commission, you will be an O1 with 3 years.

HOWEVER!!! for those Marines that took MCTAP, as it sounds like in your case, their Pay Entry Base Date is the date they commission. Again, this only applies to MCTAP, not FAP. If you take only FAP it will not delay your years in service. Since you have taken MCTAP, count on being an O1 with less than 1 year of service. You may want to double check that you accepted MCTAP and not FAP because this could make a world of difference.

Thanks for the reply. I had MCTAP and FAP mixed up and I actually took money once from FAP. Thanks again.
