Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City

My family and I will be moving to Oklahoma City in about 7-8 months while my husband is being stationed at Tinker AFB for the Navy E6's. We are looking for the best school district, family friendly & safe neighborhoods to live that is a good commute to Tinker AFB. I am wondering if anyone has suggestions on where to live in the area. :icon_mi_1

I have my opinions but they are 9+ years old. Have your husband seek out the other E-6 IPs and get in contact with their wives. There is one female IP you could talk to as well. Your questions are normal and it is not unheard of to seek out the IPs (and their wive's) opinions. They should be more than happy to advise you. If they aren't let me know and then they will be. You can chat with my wife as well if you need to be "introduced." PM me if you are interested.

I grew up there. Look into Edmond. It's on the north side of town and has the best school district in the city. And as long as you're relatively close to I-35 the commute to Tinker can be kept somewhat reasonable. The town is clean, well kept, and low crime because it's where most of the upper middle class of the city are. The problem is Tinker is in Midwest City, their school district is crap. And the closest other school districts are OKC (very bad) and Del city, also crap. Moore school district isn't too bad, but nowhere close to Edmonds. Norman school district is pretty good too, but it's on the far south side of the city. So as long as your husband doesn't mind a 45 min drive to work (depending on how far you are from the highway of course) then Edmond is where you should go.
