Transfer leave after OCS

My apologies if I am reposting something already gone over --please post the link if so. I have searched and have not really found an answer to this question (including from my OR).

When is the best time to take leave (if at all) after OCS? I am imagining that after OCS if you are flying to Navy will only pay for a flight straight to P'cola. But if you drive POV and live on the east coast should get a few days to transfer.

-Will you get an oppotunity to take a few days leave after checking in a P'cola to go home and move stuff?

-Can you take transfer leave after OCS to move enroute to P'cola?

With your orders transferring you from OCS to API you will receive a No Later Than date to arrive at Pensacola. That is the date you have to be there by, no excuses. After graduation you will transfer and be given travel days to make the trip - I forget how long it is but I think its 3 days. That's how long you have to get to Pensacola WITHOUT being charged any leave. If you choose, or if your particular circumstances necessitate, you can take longer, up to your NLT date, to arrive. Any days in excess of your travel days that it takes you to check-in will be charged as leave.

When you graduate OCS, depending on when you attend and what holidays there are, you should have about a week of leave accrued. You can also go "negative leave" before checking in to API (using more leave days than you have) and the command used to be ok with that - but check the current policy because that might have changed. Clear as mud?

The command down here in Pensacola is still okay with you going negative on leave. I am currently sitting about 4 days in the hole.

My NLT date was 14 days after my OCS graduation and I got 3 days of travel so I used 11 days of leave
