Here's the story: I had PRK done a while back and I submitted my medical records to my OSO to get my waiver. First he told me that MEPS had already approved my PRK waiver and that it still had to go to the district office for final aaproval. Now he is telling me that I have to go to MEPS and take my flight phyisical. He said this was because I can't have a vision waiver submitted if MEPS doesn't know that there is anything wrong with my eyes since I haven't had a physical yet. (Have in mind MEPS supposedly approved the waiver alreaady). Mind you that MEPS tests for little more than a pulse so they wouldn't even be able to detect whether or not I had PRK at all anyway. I asked my OSO that since the flight physical is more thorough than the MEPS physical wouldn't that be enough? So he said that the Corps doesn't want to pay for me to get a flight physical if I might be DQ'd at MEPS since I need a medical waiver. Anyway, this whole thing sounds terribly awkward to me. Has anyone here who needed a medical waiver (preferably for PRK) had to take or not take for that matter both physicals, and where can I find out more about this so that I can show it to my OSO? Thanks for your help.
