Two questions: Pre-contract/OCS

First off, my OSA told me that NFO positions are not going to be available soon. Is this true or just a misnomer?

Second, what does a "flight physical" entail? I had to go for an eye exam (with dilation) already. Is it about the same as a regular physical you get at MEPS? My OSO is sending me down to Pensacola for 4 days. This seems like a long physical :)

Also, I'm female, so not sure if any "extra" exams will be conducted. Thanks for any help in advance.

ONe day down the road. They're still contracting NFOs. Flight physical is basically a more extensive medical day than MEPS was. Nothing too crazy. Search around for flight physical. IT wont take all 4 days. ITs mainly for overflow. IF something didnt get done, or if they had to redo a test, or if you ate and your blood work is messed up, etc...I only had one day of testing.

As for the female parts, well you have female parts so they do female parts testing.

Thanks, I found that too. Unfortunately, it sounds like I have already done a lot of that already.

What part of OH are you in? Apparently, the Marine Corps is up to it's eyballs in Air officers, SNA's and SNFO's. You have to want it to want it. The only thing MORE intense about the flight physical vice the MEPS phys is the Chest X-Ray and the EKG. Don't sweat it because you can't control biometrics. You are who you are. That goes for good and bad...

Up by Toledo, but my OSO is 5 hours away... long story.

The OSA said NFO was going to be replaced by another pilot for safety and liability reasons.

I'm not sweating the physical... I seem to be in good health; it's the three days from work I'm not thrilled about. Pensacola has to better than OH right now, though. I'm actually looking forward to warmth on my skin.

I'm pretty sure that applies to all contracts, as the Marine Corps has lately been able to consistently attract new bodies well above its recruiting goals.

NFO's are eventually going away due to the Marine Corps phasing out the Prowler and transitioning F/A-18D's to the JSF. Mind you this isn't going to happen for a long time.

Interesting, because the Marine Corps Times says there is a huge push to get more officers in order to keep up with the 202K enlisted side. Our OSO is being pushed to recruit more like the enlisted side.

Then I here about Mike Company and how many are being held there. I guess the schools haven't caught up with the supply and demand.

If you werent drunk in that post I suggest you edit it.

And if you have not contracted then you dont have a slot. Thats like getting hired for a job that you havent applied for. Although that actually has a better chance of happening.
