im hoping to get slected for OCS to become a NFO. i was wondering though... how are the choices made on what type of aircraft one is assigned to? are there things i can do to improve my chances of being put through the jet pipeline?

also, and this will probably sound terrible, but what does the "S" in SNA and SNFO stand for? its killing me! thanks.

s= student. arent you glad you lost sleep over that. you dont get selected for a specific pipeline till after primary i believe. to improve your chances of getting jets...do really well in ocs and whatever comes after. other people would know more about this than me.

i was under the impression from my marine oso that if u r a NFO u r guaranteed a jet - either prowler or hornet - and which was decided by your standing at pensicola

Marine NFO's are pretty much guaranteed jets, the helos don't have them. NFO to NA transitions are possible, but very competetive and not guaranteed. If you want better chances of getting the plane you want, work your ass off in primary, after that and depending on your performance in it, your pipeline is determined. Most people say that getting a private pilot's license helps out a lot. Your OCS performance doesn't matter at all, as long as you pass. good luck
