Just curious and not taking a swipe at you....but if you thought it was too early to make the movie, why did you go?
I think it's an unnecessary dramatization of a tragedy and therefore I'm not going.
HAL, I think you may be basing your opinions off of what the advertisers want you to think, and not what the movie really is. First up, I haven't seen it yet, just for the record.
I know you may be closer to the events than I, but I'd recommend you read the review by Roger Ebert (
http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060427/REVIEWS/60419006). One of his first comments is that the movie trailer completely distorts what the the movie really is. Apparently, for his perspective (and other stuff I've read), they did it "right." There isn't much drama, other than the actual events of that day. There's no backstory, no politics, just describing the events as we know them. It's also interesting that a lot of the "actors" in the movie are played by the real people (ATC and such).
As for the military looking like a bunch of buffoons...well, no one knew what was going on, and the system just wasn't set up the way it is now.
Anyway, I'm interested in seeing the movie and giving it a fair shake because it sounds like it's much more than it could have been.
