USMA dropout...Hurt my chances for OCS selection?

When I graduated high school in 1999, I went straight to the United States Military Academy at West Point. I was there for a little over 2 years and left due to a family emergency, and the fact that I was young and didn't know if the military was for me. When I resigned and came home, I basically BS'd for 6 months and did nothing but work and finally enlisted in the Army. I really enjoyed my time enlisted, but knew I wanted more and got out and finished my degree.

Here I am today with my degree and ETS'd as an E-5. I think I have a strong packet, but I don't know if the board will look down on me for not finishing West Point.

Please let me know your thoughts. I did not leave for academics or disciplinary reasons!!!

Doubt it, your career in the Army will speak louder then anything prior to that. That and if it was a family emergency, just say that. Whatever board you're applying to will understand it.

I got accepted and I dropped out of USNA, there were 7 prior USNA midshipman at OCS during the course of my stay there. I'm pretty good with a NFO down here that went to USMA for a year also. If you have a good package I wouldn't sweat it.

Awesome, thats good to hear. At least the board can realize that when you are young you might not always have your head completely on your shoulders. What a relief.
