Hey everyone I just passed my astb and submitted my application for OCS. While I am waiting to hear back from my OSO I began to wonder since I qualified for pilot but not nfo on my astb does that mean I am limited to aircraft that have nfo's and Im unable to fly the harrier if I qualify, or does it just mean I cant be a nfo.

If you qualified for pilot then you can fly anything we have, depending on how you do in flight school and any specific medical issues you might have (being 7 feet tall or something). I didn't know that there were two passing levels for the ATSB. I took the AQT/FAR (the old test). Either you passed or you didn't. Being a pilot or NFO was usually based on vision.

These days there are AQR/PFAR/FOFRAR OAR

If i understand him correctly, I think he means the FOFAR part of his test didn't meet mins (I believe the Marine mins for the first 3 parts is "6")- why he isn't qualified for SNFO.

6 pack, I was in the same boat... ASTB scores just tell you if you are qualified for a track. At this point you can fly any aircraft if you get selected for pilot.

You can totally game the PFAR/FOFAR stuff. Think in terms of chess team for FOs vs. football team for pilots. :D

So does not qualifying for NFO mean you don't have to make coffee and carry the navbags?

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

never too late to lay down a little community smack... I know Bret'll respond in about .0098 seconds ...

.102 seconds... unacceptable... however it'd be a relief to have a FO in my backseat instead of an instructor ...
