I've been trying to get information on how I could submit a package to get a branch transfer from a 2505 designator (JAGC) to flight (OCC 187?). I will be promoted to LT in a couple of months and have a couple of years left on my current tour. No one I've talked to in the Navy knows how to do this (as well as trying to get a flight spot in the Navy which is impossible these days).

I am familiar with my USMC OCS/TBS process. I didn't put in a package after college b/c my OPO kept discouraging me from a flight spot. This was a pretty bad mistake since I might be DQed b/c of my age now. My PFT's are average (20/100/23:00)...hey I've only had to run 1.5 in the Navy.

Any help with this situation is greatly appreciated, even if it is to tell me that it's impossible. Thanks.

navyjag,

There is another thread which discussed max age for flight.

When I put my package in there was a LTJG trying to apply - he said that he had to go through the same application process as everyone else (he was going ground, as was I).

Would your rank transfers once you graduate?

Good luck.

In order to switch over to the Marine Corps you have to usually get your service (Navy) to release you to the Marine Corps. Then you have to get the Marine Corps to let you in. I've heard of simular situations, but usually they don't involve a Lawyer wanting to be a pilot. Best thing to do is talk to your "monitor", career specialist, and then talk to Marine Corps Manpower in particular Officer Procurement under www.usmc.mil. They might be able to help you. However, the age waiver for flight might be the biggest show stopper for you. I hope this helps. However, you can always be a Jag in the Marine Corps I'm sure.
