NEWS Va Beach mural painted over

Apparently the building changed hands and the new owner decided to remove the mural.

Everyone who has been through Hampton Roads has seen this at least once. I never knew the story behind it or that it contained a tribute to a fallen Pukin Dog. Hate to see it go.

As a former Pukin' Dog who just left the area and thought "I wish I had taken a picture with that mural" I was upset to hear this. Even more so once I heard that it was dedicated to "Basher" Blaschum and that the ready room and young kids all signed it.

Unfortunate, but the removal of the mural fits into the Virginia Beach communities continuing push for an image of "vacation destination" instead of "the beach of a military town". This push is also a big part of why VB continues to try to block the extension of the train from downtown Norfolk into VB as well.

If the new hotel is a HOJO that mural was probably it's best selling point, and only redeeming quality.
