I am hopeing someone out there can give me an answer, advice, or feedback on my situation. I applied for a pilot spot in the BDCP program and got one.....that was five months ago. I went to MEPS and finished all of the physical stuff mid to late May. I am still not able to be sworn in yet. My recruiter keeps on telling me all I am waiting for is an OCS date. Well, is waiting five months normal or am I being jerked around? Please, if anyone can give me some sort of feedback it would be very appreciated by me.

well, if you finished in mid to late May, you final docs weren't sent in till then so it has only been 3 months. Have you done your in-PRT? You have to complete all final docs to get your OCS date. If you have completed and submitted all final docs.... all I could tell you then is that you are taking longer than I took to get my package back.

Well, unless you need the money bad, just chill man. You got your slot unless something gets fouled up. So.... at this point I'd say, no news is just as good as good news.

i had to wait that long too buddy. I finshed all in may, was accepted some time in july ,and couldnt swear in till october 1st because that is the first day of the new fiscal year. they probably cant have you on the books until then.

By the way I didnt find out my ocs date till about a year later. and that was only because I got an email saying it had been delayed a week. I didnt even know the original date yet.

I agree no news is good news because I do have the spot. I guess I have to have that optimistic point of view. But, is there any way I can find out why it is taking so long?

No, there is not really a good way to find anything out except to ask your recruiter. It took me about three months to go from pro-rec to swearing in. These things take time and it will be especially worse now because of the Navy's overmanning problems. Good luck, I hope your situation works out soon.

i completed everything (meps, prt) all that stuff in mid april, and still haven't heard about my final selection. i did have to wait a bit longer because i had to get a waiver for some hardware in my body, but i still haven't heard. don't really know why, but still waiting....and waiting.....and waiting....!!

I was stashed at the officer recruiters last summer and witnessed first hand that the wait for pilots can easily be a year or even more. As Ben mentioned, the Navy is overmanned, especially pilots. Because of the manning issue, officer recruiters really have no reason to lie to you about anything. So, like Ben said, ask your recruiter where you stand in your wait and just enjoy your "vacation" while it lasts. You'll be ramped up in OCS, and flight school before you know it so learn now to enjoy the deserved down time.
