Pretty sure you have to be correctable to 20/20 and have never heard of a waiver. Are you sure you aren't correctable?

Edit: I checked the Aeromedical and Reference Waiver Guide and you "Must correct to 20/20 each eye". Just to be sure, you are talking about not correcting to 20/20 with glasses/contacts? If you see better than 20/20 like 20/15 you are good, if you can only see 20/30 even with corrective lenses it is an issue.

That's for flyers, but what about SWO/AMDO/SUPPLY/INTEL? They all say waivers considered. Just wondering if anyone on here knows of anyone who is commissioned with less than 20/20 vision.

every physical that my NRD sent to N3M that didn't correct to 20/20 was shot back and had to have eyes re-checked, no PQ letters were issued until they corrected to 20/20

I'm wondering if it's different for priors. I know that some programs say "waivers considered".

basic commissioning standards as far a medical is concerned are the same, often the phrase "waivers considered" is put down but not often used, I have seen more than one AD applicant who was told "does not meet standards for commissioning but meets standards for continued enlistment"

I would believe your medical would be going to get reviewed sooner rather than later, and the people I dealt with would get to say 20/25 or 20/30 I never had one that was 20/15 or 20/10 so maybe your circumstance is going to be unique

Thank you for your insight. Crazy thing is, I already have a date to OCS. But I know for a fact my vision is correctable to 20/40L and 20/20R, so we will see!

Is that from a Navy exam or a private one? The reason I ask is I had an issue years ago with a Navy eye doc who said I probably had permanent damage to my eyes and could not correct to 20/20, I have long had very bad vision and thought my flying career was at an end at the end of that exam. After talking to the Opthamalogist who treated me growing up who said the Navy doc was talking out of his ass the next day I went to Lenscrafters and they gave me a new set of glasses that got me to 20/20. My XO at the time confided in me that he got his glasses outside the Navy because he had a bad experience as well with a Navy eye doc, my flight doc knew and approved of what I did.

I would get a second opinion if you have not already even if it is outside the Navy.

It was a private exam. However, my question is: IF I am found NPQ(AT OCS) for NFO (due to vision less than 20/20 corrected), will I then be able to re-designate? In other words, is there any officer programs that WILL accept me with less than 20/20?
