Vision Question

I know this is all over several threads, but, I'm wondering if anyone can answer this from his/her own experience.

My vision at MEPS was 20/200, correctable to 20/20 in both eyes.

Do the regulations allow for me to get a soft lense/glasses waiver, or will I have to get PRK?

My recruiter and other people seem to not be "100%" and I'd rather know before I submit my application and wait just to be turned down because of my vision (which I will fix with PRK if I need to)

Pilot/SNA requires 20/40 uncorrected or better, correctable to 20/20. Soft Contact Lens waiver is no longer an option for applicants. If you are 20/200 and want a pilot slot, you will need (successful) PRK.

And if you get the PRK, plan to be Med-Down for 7 months post op, and currently you can't get a Pro-Rec to stay "fresh" (my OR's words) for that long - would have to reapply.

I'm sort off in the same predicament and have an additional question: Would you have to get the PRK before you join or after?
