What are my Chances?

Hey All,

This is my first time on this forum. I'm out in California enjoying the beautiful weather. Sorry to the folks in Florida who just experienced another Hurricane. Anyway, I just applied for OCS and I am wondering how long it will take to find out if I get accepted or not. Here are my stats:
- Age 22
-BS Degree in Management from San Diego State University. GPA = 3.22
-ASTB scores: 59 7 6 6
-4 letters of rec. from 2 professors, 1 boss, and a long time personal associate.
-PRT scores: Sit-ups: 86 Push ups: 74 1.5 mile run: 11:36 =(
- 22 flight hours
-held a job through college and have some extracurricular activities.
-a lot of sports in High School some in college.

I sent my application in Sept. 1, 2005. I applied for 1. SNA 2. NFO 3. Supply.

I know I am not very competitive for Aviation, but it is a dream of mine so I applied for it. The worst they can say is NO. However, I think I have a pretty good chance at Suppy being that I majored in Business and got a good OAR score.

My question to everyone is, how long does it take to hear a yes or no and am I competitive? And if I get accepted, when would my OCS class start?

Whoever takes the time to respond, Thank you!

Ya, might be a little weak for aviation, but you are close. Keep your fingers crossed. Much better shot at Supply, they need folks and you have the degree. Aviation pro rec will usually runs 4-8 weeks. Supply board meets twice a month vise one for aviation. Good Luck.

Thanks WINK,

Do you know how long it takes to get a final select for either aviation or supply? My recruiter did not give me any specifics. My package went out in the beginning of Sept.

Always hard to say. Best guess is the first week or so of Nov.

Different beast then getting the pro-rec. "Generally" they is an inverse relationship between the two, from what I've seen. Usually quick pro-recs take a long time for final selects and vise versa. I waited 1 month and ~2 weeks for both.

My bad. I was thinking the pro rec he is waiting for now. The final select is dependant on a completely different set of circumstances. It generally does take a month or two though.

Thanks for the replies. I just have one more question on this topic. What is the difference between a pro rec and a final select. Why the two different stages? Do two different boards look at your application?

Believe me, I definitely like the weather and the girls, and the in-n-out burgers and carne asada fries. But having so many friends in sd, i felt i would have gotten way too caught up in drinking and partying and less on academics and gaining that commissioning. Best decision I ever made bc look at where I am now...

1. Commissioned Officer

2. Getting paid to sit on my ass

3. Enjoying the beautiful weather and getting paid

Yes...life is good. Oh so good.

Oh man are those carne asada fries good. You're right about the drinking and partying, it was a big distraction but I was able to keep up on my grades. When did you get commissioned and what is your job?
