Use the google search function instead of the built in one, there are a lot of threads about this, as I have had the same problem.
In short, if you fail FALANT at MEPS (or practically anything) you can get it reviewed by a civilian doctor who may or may not pass you.
The red/green/white are shown at different intensity/hues to see if you are looking for brightness to judge the color or the color itself. A new a similar test to the FALANT is the Optec 900, but as far as I know, no one has it, but it is an acceptable test.
You must get 9/9 on the first test or an average of 1 wrong on the two preceding tests. Don't try to memorize the order on your MEPS sheet, as per instruction, they are supposed to be given at random.
I actually took a civilian FALANT before MEPS and passed 100% (for my PPL), MEPS Dr. signed it "evidence to be considered in profile" or something to that nature, and told me I was most likely good to go as Navy CNRC will have final say. I will let you know how that works out.
That all being said, hopeful as it sounds, if you do that, understand NAMI can and will still fail you if necessary. They will be as fair possible, but if you don't pass it, you don't pass it.
