What happens in case of evacuation?

What goes on in the event that Pensacola is evacuated due to hurricanes? I heard that OCS candidates were bussed inland last summer. Any body that was there remember what happened? I will have a car there; will that stay or can I drive it out of there in this worst-case scenario? OCS is finally approaching for me and I was just wondering. Thanks for any input.

yeah, i was there, it sucked... everyone drove as a group to corry station and we slept in a crypto building with no windows for a week and a half.
Some of the fun stuff:
-No air conditioning,
-15 or more people sleeping on the hard floor of each 3-4 person office,
-30 second cold showers with three of you under one shower nozzle at once in pretty much complete darkness
-8 or more hour days of picking up debris with your bare hands.
-washing your clothes in a garbage can full of water and detergent out back
-crappy heater meals (slab of cardboard chicken that only amounted to 350 calories)
-essentially its like getting rolled for two weeks as a class making you graduate late.

That sucks. But remember, others have it harder. I personally know people that lost their homes. They're in a much greater world of hurt than 2 more weeks in OCS could ever hope to give you. Be glad you could be part of the recovery effort.

So, do they let you move your car to a more secure area? I just bought mine and was hoping to not see it get ravaged while I'm down there in the peak of hurricane season (Aug-Nov).

During Ivan, the guys in OCS were allowed to take their cars and caravaned up to Corry Station.

Yea, I was in class 04-05 with Gunny Fowler when Ivan came through. Gotta love the long nights on a hard tile floor after a cold shower in complete darkness with 3 dudes under the same faucet. Ahhh, memories. As for your car, you can move it to Corry Station where there's no guarantee it won't get messed up. Ivan caused a tornado to rip through one of the parking lots that ended up blowing out a lot of windows (luckily my truck was in the next lot over). What class were all you in? I remember picking up hurricane trash and cleaning up GySgt Fowler's neighborhood like it was yesterday. Got pride after OCS, but there's no way I'd go back.
