I have a BA in Human Resource Management. I plan on applying for OCS this fall. I can complete an additional BA degeree in Operations Management with just a few more classes. What would help be more competitve, go ahead and get another BA degree or to start on my Graduate Degree?

From what I hear, the Navy isnt too particular as to what your major was.

Nice name, by the way. LOL.

The weight of your major depends on what you apply for, It can matter, and in today's competitive environment it usually does. That said, your major would be fine for pilot, nfo, swo, or supply. Intel would be a long shot and Subs isn't possible. Most likely opennings in the near future are NFO and supply. The rest of your app must be very good. Rather than getting another undergrad start on a grad degree. If you are in long enough the Navy will want you to get the grad degree, so start on it now. Something else to start now...THE APPLICATION! Don't know your particulars, but waiting until the fall is not a good idea. Apply early, apply soon, apply now. If you are basicly qualified (a recruiter will access that), apply ASAP. I can't tell you how important this is. If you wait you are just several more months older, more quotas will be filled, programs closed and you are more likely to blow a knee out and be NPQ. If you haven't seen a recruiter do so now.

I should also mention that I have been in the navy for 12yrs and I am 31, so that severely limits me, especially with the new age restrictions. I think my best bet is AMDO.
I will forgo the BA. I plan on applying to Hawaii Pacific or Gonzaga for my MA.

I am currently studying for the GMAT. I think this will help with the math/verbal section of the ASTB. I also have one of the ARCO study guide. I also have to study for my Fleet Marine Force (FMF) pin, which I need to get by June. I think with time management I will be okay.

Your prior service age waiver and college degree should set you up for AMDO and Supply. I have been involved in recruiting on and off since the mid '80s. Like never before the Navy is putting great value on prior service and fleet apps. Good Luck
