When do I get my ID?

I tried searching everywhere, and didn't want to start a whole new thread. Can any of you who have been through the OCS application process tell me when we would get military IDs?

The reason being - the girlfriend's father (O-5 Pilot Retired) is thinking of getting me some kind of NEX gift card (do those exist?) for my graduation if I am accepted into OCS. Would I have an opportunity to shop for uniforms before heading to RI? Thanks in advance.

Why in the hell would you want to get uniforms before going to OCS? Or do you mean, for sizing and whatnot? Either way, don't worry about it now. You'll get issued what you need, and you'll have plenty of opportunites later to get new Ensign uniforms.

You get your ID when you go to OCS if you're not in BDCP. (I asked my recruiter, and that was his answer.) Once you have your final select, you SHOULD be able to access NEX online - some can't, I can, but I haven't tried to buy anything. The way I understand it, they have a system for making sure we'll get our stuff at OCS, so there's no need (or reason) to do it beforehand. Someone else with more experience will be able to give you a more definitive answer, I'm sure.

NEX giftcards are awesome: take him up on the offer... You can use it when you have to spend all that cash on new uniforms. As for getting them before OCS: don't be THAT guy (your avtar) and skyline yourself.
