Whoops! TFOA!!

I remember a Det 5 COD losing its bailout hatch out of Atsugi while flying to "rescue" a Det 2 bird with a hydraulic leak. I'd blame Bunk but he actually wasn't there. Oh the good ol' days.
 
That'll happen. Same piece of engine bay door came off during my last work-ups. Material failure, tired iron.

God knows Miramar was bad enough, and we didn't even nuke them. I can't imagine what hell must have awaited the -53 crew that chopped off the KC-130 hose over a residential house/neighborhood doing IFR front and center at the airshow 2 years ago
 
Had a skipper lose his inboard slat on the 7 mile case I climb out. It resulted in a no-flap, no-slat recovery followed by a crane off in-port.
