Why do

The lack of at-board list so far is strange, it should be here by now. It is possible that the exact date of the board was pushed to a slightly later date. That may explain the lack of an at board list for now. We're two business days away from the scheduled board, I would have thought there would be a at board list posted by now if it was this coming Monday. Maybe the board was pushed a week?

This thread reached 100 pages the week prior to the board, in contrast the October board crossed 100 pages the night prior to results. This thread is wild lol.

Why doesn’t that one guy email that one navy guy he was talking to? I’m sure that was vague but... ya know ?

Thanks for your reply, yea the dream is to do aviation, I don't care if it's SNA or flight officer. I wasted the last 3 years trying to join the air force before they finally rejected my medical waiver for vision.

My recruiter is pushing me to do swo or supply because he says age waiver isn't required if I apply for the upcoming boards and I don't have to take the full astb (I took OAR, without knowing I was eligible for aviation jobs bc of my medical waiver). Supply board is Feb 4, so I gotta decide if I'm gonna do that or risk applying for aviation with no guarantee of age waiver approval (let alone retaking astb)...what would you do?

Also, your recruiter took the initiative to apply for age waiver early in your process? That's a good recruiter

He was a good one (Retired) but that was only because I expressed repeatedly that my age was coming up and I didn’t want to be tossed out.

Be proactive with your application packet. In the nicest way possible, follow up with him and toss in your concern that you’ve heard it could take some time since it does have to go through the proper chain of command. Tell them that you have everything they need and you’re only a click away from sending it. I think your recruiter would appreciate that. But also keep in mind that you’re not the only applicant they’re working on as well.

Naval acquisitions (NTAG)? I mean, he might confirm if the board has or has not happened. I am hoping it has happened, means I have to wait less lmao.

A couple days really will not make a big difference. The real day to get anxious about is when the data bomb drops and we find out if we are future Naval Officers or not. Stay patient... the day is coming. Until then, lets make it to 200 pages. Time to become AW legends lmao

I was previously a B-52 and F-22 Crew Chief and the work atmosphere/mission just doesn’t compare to combat rescue. It’s a small community and everyone is respected. I’ve enjoyed every bit of it.— Coast guard sounds sick honestly. Heard they only take prior service pilots. Don’t know if that’s true though.

I was applying for both navy and coast guard. Coast guard is way harder to get picked up in, because of the way smaller community. The program I was apply for was OCS-R. Though they do have a program called like WiFi or something like that. Which if you can get picked up for you have a guaranteed flight seat... I stopped applying for coast guard because of the back and forth it cause with the navy at MEPS to get my medical records ?.

Yes that WiFi program is great but is only for college students in a specific program for minorities. I applied twice in the Coast Guard and speaking from being in the organization it's like shooting at a target in the dark. You could have a stellar packet and not be the candidate that particular board is looking for. Good on you for continuing with the Navy, and if you want to make the transition post-Navy, we get prior service pilots all the time.

Hey just wondering is it difficult to get an age waiver? I'm 31, turning 32 in June...my recruiter is recommending me to do supply or swo, but not as cooperative whenever I ask about aviation positions. He did say I needed to commission before my 32nd birthday for aviation and I asked him if age waiver was possible for aviation. He's supposed to check on this. I figured I'd ask you here. I am non prior

Take it from me, when someone tells you not to submit a waiver, submit that waiver. The PA106 allows for waivers. Until that changes, waivers are a thing. My reasoning is this: the person telling you not to submit it is not in charge of the waiver process... ask me how I know. I will PM you details.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if we are able to get tattoos during this "purgatory" board process? Is there still biased in the Navy with tattoos? I know the regs are extremely relaxed, but I want to make sure I know what to expect before I keep getting permanent ink on my body haha

Yes, medical waiver was approved by the Navy (I heard air force is a lot stricter hence my rejection). Ok thanks for the tips, I will shoot him a text today.

Everything is in order except for taking the astb and potentially the age waiver. My recruiter commented that I'm organized with my paperwork, I said this is my third rodeo going to meps (bc of air force) so there's no excuse not to be haha.

The age waiver process was fairly straight forward however it is a time-tedious process. I'm ina similar situation as you are (turn 32 in February 24) and what my recruiter did to anticipate this from happening was applying for one regardless, in case the board can't meet or the application gets rolled over (which what ended up happening). Per my recruiter, there is a very big push for SWO currently and that may be the reason he's recommending SWO (can't say for Supply Corps). But if you have your heart set in stone for SNA, then you make him be aware of that and tell him it's the only thing you want. I would follow up ASAP regarding this, because it was lengthy for me.

Idk they said I would have no problem getting picked up for the last time with the big push... I don’t got any waivers or anything. So I have been bummed when I don’t get the Y for SWO with the way they say how easy it is to get picked up...

Are you going to kick yourself if you move on and never know if you could make it? I think that should answer what you should do.

Just to echo @Ghost SWO - definitely expend every possible route to get into aviation if that is your dream so that your slate is clear in the future.

From my own observations and what I've heard, there are throngs of officers (people in general actually) who bitterly complain about how x and y conspired to prevent them from getting what they wanted. Looking back myself I've been guilty of blaming circumstance loads of times and feel embarrassed even - if there is a chance, take it.

Amen amen, I would have wayyy more peace of mind if I tried like hell and didn't get in than not try. I asked bc my recruiter made it sound like I have a better chance to get in supply without a waiver than waiting for the next supply board with a waiver if aviation doesn't pan out. Life is full of important choices and never perfect is it. Well now I know to try like hell for aviation even if it hurts chances of getting into supply. Thanks

Don’t do it from what I understand my recruiter said in the stuff I signed that I would do anything to mess up my medical at MEPS.
