31OCT22 SNA/SNFO BOARD

It's mind-numbing. And then of course with the ProRec-Y result, it's more waiting because of the back-up. Praying that I can get a lucky "yo dawg we got a slot for you that just opened up" relatively quickly after the ProRec. If not, us OCT board guys/gals are probably looking at an OCS date of 2024 lol
That’s where I feel very fortunate to be in the situation I am where they just brought BDCP back and I’m trying to hop on the train early before the Navy reassesses it and drops it for funding purposes or something. At the very least I’ll be in the navy as a technicality just going to school and getting paid till my OCS date whenever that ends up being.

I feel for you guys who are already graduated who are just in total limbo as ya'll chase your dream. I really do.
It's tough working everyday (or applying to jobs) and living the civilian life acting like I'm not going to be quitting sometime soon but even with a Pro-Rec-Y I'm acting like I don't have this in the bag.
Bc you don't know for sure when you are heading to OCS until you get your orders. Life must continue as if you aren't planning on joining the US military

Are PRT requirements the same at OCS as they for enlisted or are we held to higher fitness standards?

I've tested myself using some charts I found and I'm averaging in the Excellent Medium/High area on all tests. Is this sufficient enough or should I be shooting for Outstanding?
Doing 100 shitty push-ups is way less impressive than doing 65 perfect pushups. Max out the plank and run as fast as you can. If you have more juice in the tank when the watch stops you’re only playing yourself.

And all that waiting just to do a lot more waiting after OCS. Although, I can think of a lot worse things than chilling in Pensacola for like a year with an officer's salary.

What you guys can do for fitness is look up the USMC PFT Standards and try to get as close to 300 as you possibly can (minus the pullups - Navy doesn't need those). That way you can CRUSH at OCS.

I've been doing a lot of different running programs and a very simple plank program that have absolutely benefitted my overall physical fitness.

For planks - Just keep doing them. Do sets if you have to, but get at least five minutes worth of planks every day.

For pushups - Just keep doing them. Aim at least for 100 good ones a day.

For running - Sprints are great!! But also look up some 5K or LSD (Long/Slow/Distance) programs so you can mix them up with sprints throughout the week. Look up the Manchester United Runs - y'all will love them! Fartlek runs are great too. Bonus points if you run on hills! Just keep doing them.

Honorable mention - Get a foam roller, stretch, and do yoga so you don't f*ck up your legs!

Literally 6 sets of 30 seconds of planks will get you to max it out

I usually do my "max set" (1:30-3:17) first to get it over with, then I do less on the next sets, but I make sure I do 5 minutes a day.
Yea when they first rolled it out I wasn’t making it past 30 seconds, but my training was different and I wasn’t focused on core at the time. Within two weeks I maxed it out doing that. Found that gem on Google lol. Crazy how easy it works. I also superset it with the ab wheel (whatever u want to call that)

I didn't know ab wheels helped, but I'll certainly check it out!
My PT Squad usually does "rotisserie core workouts":
1:00 plank
1:00 side plank left
1:00 superman
1:00 side plank right

We sometimes do these high planks with shoulder touches
