Your link just goes to page 1 of this thread. If I was the lady reading the names though, I'd have immediately caught on and stopped and said this must be a prank.

Why were the Japanese teens hooting and laughing?
Fixed the link, thanks.

They were laughing, joking around, taking selfies and such. It was like they were standing in front of some tourist attraction, that was the funniest thing they had ever seen.

It was obviously disrespectful, but I could not tell you what they were actually saying. Like I said, had there not been a language barrier, I was planning on telling them to be respectful of the space they were in. They looked to be in their late teens, to early 20s.

The Japanese kids were probably better behaved.

The Japanese kids were the ones being disrespectful. They were the ones laughing, joking, and taking selfies in front of the airplane like it was roadside attraction.
That's disappointing, Then again they have a whole different outlook on why that airplane is a museum piece than we do.

Here are the clearest photos yet of the PRC's type 003 aircraft carrier CNS Fujian (CV-18). Conventionally-powered and about the size of the later USN CVs: perhaps 80,000-plus tons full-load displacement. Electromagnetic catapults. Their J-35 strike fighter is still in test, but speculation is that initially the air wing will include catapult-capable modified J-15 Flankers.

Magnets don't work when wet, don't they know that?

The Zhuhai airshow is in progress in China. Lots of hardware shown. I've searched in vain for a good quality photo of the KJ-600 AEW aircraft (E-2 clone). Here are a few photos of Zhuhai November 2024...

#1 - Z-21 naval helo (H-60 Plus clone)

#2 - Y-8 ASW variant

#3 - H-6K Badger with ASMs

#4 - J-35A prototype (AF version, not Navy CATOBAR variant)

One more photo, this time of the interim PLA Navy carrier-based CATOBAR fighter, the Shenyang J-15T Flanker-X2. To my knowledge, the Russians never adapted the Flanker for catapult takeoffs, so this is a Chinese innovation.

That sensor on the turtle back of the Z-20 still perplexes me. The only thing that seems to make sense would be...SATCOM?

It's also interesting that when you Google-image "naval Z-20," the majority of the images show a navalized Z-20 (F and J) without a radome, though occasionally you'll see a picture with a version that has a radar (if it's real).

I'm obviously pretty late to this party but what makes you think they were Japanese teens?

I had a similar conversation with a Army O-6 one time about the rude Japanese tourists running around DC. Turns out they were probably Chinese tourists and this guy couldn't tell the difference.

What you are talking about sounds nothing like the Japanese. Unless it was a group of Yakuza, then all bets are off.

They were speaking Japanese, and to me appeared Japanese. It would have been almost 20 years ago, had it happened now I would suspect people being outlandish for a social media post.

Had they been speaking English, I would have tried to educate them. It was obvious they knew what they were looking at, which made the whole thing even more weird and disrespectful. They didn't appear to be as part of a tour group, and I never saw them with adults.

They appeared to be HS aged, and definitely not Yakuza.

Th latest Chinese prototype, dubbed a "6th generation fighter" and referred to as the Shenyang J-XD2, has made its first flight. Unsurprisingly, the photos are not of high quality. The aircraft appears to have a lot of wing area. Apparently it has air intakes both below the leading edge of the wing and on the spine, leading to some speculation that it could have three engines.

The J-20 is a big fighter, that plane looks to be at least as big if not bigger. If I had to hazard a guess it looks more like a strike aircraft than a fighter, along the lines of a stealth version of an F-111 which would make a lot of sense for the Chinese.
