Only slightly related, but there’s a kickass aviation museum in Sweden at an ex-Draken base where you can fly some of their old simulators/see the old ready rooms. The former wing commander was running the sim the day I was there and ran me through their standard VFR round-robin. It’s also where Koenigsegg has their HQ, so you can see hypercar testing on the runways.

Another, clearer photo -- this time identifying the aircraft as a J-36 fighter. Apparently about 70 feet long.

Th latest Chinese prototype, dubbed a "6th generation fighter" and referred to as the Shenyang J-XD2, has made its first flight. Unsurprisingly, the photos are not of high quality. The aircraft appears to have a lot of wing area. Apparently it has air intakes both below the leading edge of the wing and on the spine, leading to some speculation that it could have three engines.

This apparently is a Chengdu product. There is *also* a Shenyang prototype that recently flew. Ostensibly that means that the Chinese are flight-testing two 6th-generation aircraft at once. See below for the obligatory fuzzy photo of the Shenyang aircraft.

I, for one, am having difficulty adjusting to the "new" look of aircraft. The F-8, F-4, then F-14, and F-18 are still what my minds eye see when I think fighters. The F-35 just doesn't do it for me. And now the Gen 6 ascetics? Gonna need some more coffee while I contemplate the future.

Meanwhile, the CNS Fujian (CV-18) has been conducting sea trials. No flight deck ops to date, although some mockups of future carrier aircraft have been seen onboard, including Flankers, the new fighter and a trainer.

Note three catapults, four cross-deck pendants and only two (?) elevators.
