The Eyes have it - All things Vision-related

Making Recruiting Great Again
Ok, so will they tell me why I am DQ'd and based on that I can make my own decisions.
I have not gone to MEPS yet, my reasoning is that, if vision is my only issue, I will get the surgery, but I want to go to MEPS to make sure I am clear of other things (hole in the heart, etc conditions)
Will the Doctor at MEPS be able to guide me?

They might explain why you're not qualified for military service (example: hole in the heart), but they do not go into special programs. That is not MEPS' job.

They will not advise you to get eye surgery - it's a legal risk advising elective/voluntary surgery.

Once again, this is your call to make with the consultation of an eye specialist.

It wouldn't hurt doing the MEPS physical and if you are DQ for aviation, take those eye exam results, along with the NAMI requirements, and discuss with an eye specialist.

All other questions, strongly suggest discussing or asking your recruiter.

You said "but they do not go into special programs", so Aviation is a special program. What if My Vision is a good enough for military service but not good enough for Aviation, will they not check for Aviation standards at MEPS?

No. If you have 20/100 vision, for example, MEPS is going to say you're qualified for basic military service. That is why your physical exam is sent to Navy Recruiting Command to review and determine if you're qualified for officer programs and aviation.

oh ok, so they will send my Physical results from MEPS to NRC. So I am assuming it takes a few weeks after MEPS to find out if you are fully qualified to even submit your Package.
So if NRC determines that vision or anything for that matter is bad, will they mention it in their DQ report, so that I can consider my options?

Ok I think I understand what to expect now
Thank you for your time.
I just hope I get a MEPS date soon, my recruiter submitted my Pre qualification paper work on 2/26
This isn't a ding on you, but how much time have you spent with your recruiter? The info you have been asking about is something your recruiter should have covered when you said you wanted to apply, it probably would have taken him or her 5 minutes to explain the entire process and ask if you had any questions. If he or she did go over the process and these are questions that came up on a Friday night then I get it.

Ok, so this is the story so far for me, I moved from City A to City B, I met with a recruiter in person in City A, he administered my ASTB, this was in December, 2024. He wanted to schedule me for MEPS as soon as he could, I told him I am going to India for a vacation and then I am moving to City B to attend school for my MS. After hearing this he told me that City B is outside his Jurisdiction and that I would need to connect with officer Recruiters serving the new ZipCode. After settling into City B, I looked up the officer Recruiters for the new City, made a few phone calls, they told me to contact a few more numbers and after all this I finally got to know my Current Recruiter.
Our Conversation has been mainly over text so far, but he did send me all the MEPS paperwork via DOD secure safe so I know he is legit.
I want to talk to him about all this but I want to get a date first, I am hoping he would brief me on all this, I was impatient and so I decided to ask here and Reddit.
Also, the State of MA is devoid of any officer Recruiters, someone should do something about that

Very unusual journey so far, the first recruiter should have given you a brief on the process since it takes no time at all. I am fairly certain there is an OR in MA as the Navy Recruiting New England HQ is in Boston and it would be very rare for there not to be an OR at or near the HQ.

Yes that vacation threw a wrench in my plans, and the vacation was not even good. So nothing was gained there.
Coming back to the topic, from what I understand
I go to MEPS, they run a bunch of tests, do a physical exam, vision and hearing test.
If I am acceptable to MEPS standards, they send my results up to NRC for SNA program regulations and after they give their approval, only after their approval I can submit a package?

Close, MEPS will make sure you meet basic military entrance standards, then NRC will make sure you meet the basic standards for the officer program you are submitting to, then you will go to board once the application is verified to be complete.

I would recommend getting a sit down with an OR.
