Well, after the long wait things moved very quickly for me. I received my final select letter 3/18, my recruiter told me he had received my oath 3/20, and I commissioned yesterday, 3/25.

Now to wait to be gained, start drilling, and eventually head to ODS.

Hello Everyone, Have you all received your final selection letters and oath/commissioning docs? Curious what some of you did or planning to do for your oath/commission ceremony?
I also heard it is currently tough to find NWU's on stock at NEX's and they might be on backorder until Q4.

I received FinSel 3/18, took oath and signed a week after (back dated to 3/18). Ended up not doing anything since things didnt line up well, and just eager to start process of getting gained.

I bought a set of 3 NWU's used on a fb group. Was lucky with size. Waiting to get name tape and seabee patch sewn on (if any of you can confirm whether seabee patch is authorized at ODS, I would be very grateful). Hopefully you're close to a base and can find some lightly used. What size are you @Eknight86 ?

For khakis, I called the NEX customer service and they created an account authorized for uniforms. Had to email them documents to prove I wasn't a rando civilian. Then had to call back in to place the order.

Congrats! Very cool you were able to back date it. Feedback I received is to reach out to your NRC if you do not hear from them after two months.

Great find for 3 sets! I haven't tried on the NWU's but from the size chart probably like Blouse (LG/XLong) & Trousers (LG/Regular). Please let me know if you come across any great deals.

Not sure on the patch question but heard NWU's are worn for limited time like ~3 days. If I have to guess may not be allowed as they are probably aiming for uniformity (like black boots). Maybe just leaving one set of NWU's unpatched until ODS. I also heard they do not allow Coyote brown boots at ODS which is bummer to buy black boots to wear for just a few days.

Have you seen the Abbott's ENS uniform package? It seems very convenient but probably want to have a tailor measure me per regulation before ordering to ensure everything fits well. (Website below).

Just called my NRC and obtained drill schedule, but CAC will have to wait until after I get gained. If I have time before first drill, I'll run out to get it done in advance since I live local to the NRC. Was told to report to first drill in NWU as well, but will confirm with sponsor once I'm assigned one.

Definitely sucks having to get black boots, I hate them and they kill my feet. Gonna break them in a few months before hand to avoid killing my feet.

Was hoping for some leniency on the patch so I could just get it done with my name tapes, but I'll see if anyone knows for sure before deciding how to proceed.

I haven't seen the Abbot package, but doesn't look like a great deal. Their NSU package is $185 without cover, and $215 with, so $400 for a set of 2 khakis and 1 cover. My NEX order was $355 for that but will also need my khaki pants tailored for length.

The complete package is $1950, but individually it's $215 for khakis, $595 for blues, $450 for whites, and $175 for summer whites. Which leaves $515 for combo cover ($110 at NEX), belts, and miscellaneous bits? I also don't see an option to change out shoulder boards or sleeves for the CEC insignia. Cap and collar devices will run a couple hundred, I just got them from vanguard. I would pass on the package or just buy the khakis till I get to ODS for dress blues.

Yes, got commdocs a few days after the letter came through. I did my commissioning at a local veteran's memorial in front of the Navy pillar. Invited close family, my parents are both former Navy so they really wanted to be there. My dad said a few words then my recruiter swore me in, I wore a suit, it took maybe ten minutes. After I had everyone over for pizza.

Later that week my recruiter took me to Great Lakes where he was doing an oath for another DCO, then the three of us went to the NEX where they sell NWUs returned by the boot camp dropoffs for 50% off. I got a few blouses, a parka and boots, but they only had a few pants in XS sizes. We also went to the main on-base NEX and got a few items there (PTs, a cap, rank tabs, blousing straps, etc.) but they also had limited to no NWU pants selection. I grabbed a pair with a rip in them off of ebay just to have a complete uniform, so I'll have to have them mended, but I was going to the tailor anyway to have name tapes added.

I bought a Seabee pocket, but I was going to wait until after ODS to have it attached, just assuming it won't be allowed since a lot of other optional items like the brown boots aren't.

I'm glad your local NRC is responsive. Interesting they want you to show in NWU's for first drill knowing the current backorder issue. I will reach out to my NRC to check if they have the same requirement and if the supply/logistics team is willing help procure the NWU's for new sailors.
Appreciate your input on the Abbot package vs. NEX pricing.

To be fair, I asked whether to wear khakis or working uniforms, and all they said was that working uniform is fine. So maybe not necessarily that it is what they prefer. I'm quite certain khakis would be perfectly acceptable as well, so long as you aren't jacked up in any of the uniforms.

Yeah I had figured, I was hoping maybe someone had someone who may have been a fly on the wall during the board. Either way I appreciate the good luck!
