12 teams go into the playoffs. There will be 1 loss teams in the playoffs, possibly 2 loss teams from big 10 and SEC.
Slight issue with the calculation. If you use this year’s standings and then consider that six slots go automatically to the six conference champions, #12 (OU, ranked 12th in this example) gets booted for Liberty (Conference USA champion). Since the Big 10 and SEC are looking at a whole new power world, I imagine the top 12 will contain quite a conference mixup.

Now that Saban has retired to a life of doing AFLAC commercials, it's time to predict the Super Bowl champ.

I'll go with the 49er's.

(Also Chiefs go down to the Dolphins today, and Taylor Swift moves on to another sport)

For those of you haven’t heard, the legendary Lee Corso is retiring this year on August 30 (opening week). A 38 year run on ESPN. There were lots of articles, but I thought this video from Matt Mitchell said it best.

Just not going to be the same…

With the NFL draft starting today, thought this would be appropriate:

and for those of you old enough to remember it, the original MNF theme:

When I was growing up, you hoped against hope that Howard Cosell would have your team's game wrap up during half time. If your team didn't get the nod, you would have no other info on the game other than listening to it on the radio or reading the box score the next day in the newspaper. My memory is that the local new station would cover the game, but I don't think they were able to use video.

It's hard to explain to people with instant access to everything, how cool MNF was.

Same thoughts - MNF was really special back in the day.

Seemed to be a relatively predictable first round draft, although I didn’t expect Jaxson Dart to go in the first round, nor did I expect Shedeur Sanders to fall out of the first round.

Really curious to see if Des Watson (DT, Florida) is drafted today. If so, he will be the biggest player in NFL history at 6’6” and 464 pounds (not a typo.)

I always thought this movie about Howard Cosell was underrated: Monday Night Mayhem

Watching the draft last night, good to see 3 Gamecock defenders go in the 2nd round - we had a pretty good defense last year. That said, the gold standard has to be the draft of 2022 when Georgia had 5 of their defensive players go in the 1st round alone (8 total). The Super Bowl champion Eagles in particular have an affinity for Bulldog defenders - Philadelphia drafted 5 in 2 years. Always interesting watching the draft.

For the record, AOCS football [since 1955] is still undefeated…which is still fun to announce at the USNA…

I remember hearing of a small, mid-west bar that would purchase an old black & white TV every week. They would have an auction every week, and the winner got to shoot the TV with a shotgun at the first moment Howard appeared onscreen of the MNF broadcast.
