Because everyone hates Delta AirlinesIf that's the case, why not arrest the guy in the parking lot or something? Doing it on the plane seems like a great way to create a bad situation.

Ahh! You committed the heretical act of spelling it “Airlines” instead of “Air Lines”. Delta PR should be reaching out to you shortly for remediation training.Because everyone hates Delta Airlines

How so? You know he won’t be armed and neither will anyone else. Also know exactly where he’ll be. Sounds like a good place for an arrest if you ask me.If that's the case, why not arrest the guy in the parking lot or something? Doing it on the plane seems like a great way to create a bad situation.
WTAF?

'Stormed The Cockpit': Homeland Security Arrests Delta Pilot Moments After Landing In San Francisco - View from the Wing
Delta Air Lines flight 2809 from Minneapolis to San Francisco had to go around and attempt to land a second time due to low visibility in fog, and was delayed about 9 minutes, but was otherwise like any other flight - until it reached the gate.viewfromthewing.com
A Delta Air Lines pilot was arrested...
Apparently the guy who got arrested read it…but just a version he found on the dark web.Didn't even read "How we fly" I bet!
That's the kind of arrest you'd expect if you thought he had a bomb on him, or some other way to mess things up. Sounds like fingers were crossed while waiting for the flight to land?WTAF?

According to eyewitnesses, approximately 10 law enforcement officers, including agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), boarded the plane immediately after landing. Officers rushed to the cockpit and arrested one of the pilots without warning. Passengers said the second pilot appeared shocked and told those who asked that he had “no idea what just happened.” Authorities had deliberately kept the arrest quiet during the flight to avoid alerting the suspect.
Just seems like an unnecessary way to alarm and potentially harm a bunch of bystanders in a relatively confined space. And with the tech available today, seems like it shouldn't be hard for police with the right warrants to know where he is.How so? You know he won’t be armed and neither will anyone else. The counter is that the accusations could be so egregious that they were like ‘f this dude, take him now’.Just seems like an unnecessary way to alarm and potentially harm a bunch of bystanders in a relatively confined space. So what happened between getting on the plane and getting off the plane that made arresting him before the flight not desirable but after the flight an immediate thing in the cockpit? The counter is that the accusations could be so egregious that they were like ‘f this dude, take him now’.

Imagining being a passenger on the flight...I'm trying to think of what they would arrest him for in that manner, right there in the cockpit right after they open the hatch, that wouldn't make me extremely pissed off that he was ever near the controls in the first place.
I do not pretend to know the details of allegations or charges, so I'm leaving the door wide open to myriad possibilities, but in general I think the bolded part of your post is really worth considering on both local and national levels. President Obama took measures to limit the amount and type of military equipment made available to local police forces; however, that effort was undone by the subsequent administration...such is life when governance is done through executive action and not through the legislative process - something worth keeping in mind by those who are champions of current executive orders. It's the same thing I've always thought about scenarios like this.
If you're having to gear up and act like you're going door to door in Fallujah to serve a warrant and/or arrest someone you're doing it wrong. Get the guy as he's coming out of the bathroom, or somewhere that they aren't going to be aggressive or aggressively defend themselves.
In this scenario why not just wait for the standard deplaning procedure, and nab him once he's getting off the airplane, or while the crew are turning it if he isn't leaving? Seems like a lot of chest puffing for no reason.
Why do cops feel the absolute need and desire to act like infantry in a warzone in every scenario?

Perhaps there is more information to the story. Perp carrying material germane to his case on him or communication that he was a flight risk (he's debarking into an airport). Maybe intelligence stated this guy has the potential to use deadly force against LE. All things that are witheld from the public. I would probably lend a little professional discretion to these guys vice the run of the mill LE team doing a routine enforcement action... or at least acknowledge that social media only covers a minority of LE actions and they're typically designed to get "likes" or "clicks." It is also some what hypocritical in our profession to assert excessive force - We schwack dudes from altitude at times with little background information and have to trust intelligence before you hit the master arm button. These guys might have been in a similar situation.
Again, if the rumored allegations against this individual are true, there's not a lot of grace I can muster for him, and at the same time we can all acknowledge this version of DHS is all about production value, too often over common sense. Two things can be true.
