Asking for Navy HPSP or Doc POC

Hey everyone,
So my friend just got accepted into med school and she’s seriously looking into the military route to help cover the costs. She’s leaning toward the Navy but has been having a tough time finding any current Navy docs to reach out to and ask real, no BS questions about the lifestyle and what to expect. I hit up my recruiter to see if he had any contacts, and as expected in my opinoin he immediately tried to scoop her up as a potential recruit instead of just directly helping and even asked her for her social lol is that a new requirement? It’s been a few weeks now. So I figured I’d check in here, does anyone know someone currently going through HPSP or actively serving as a doc who’d be cool with my friend asking a few questions about the path, the day-to-day, and what life’s really like? She’s just looking for some honest insight before making the call. Appreciate any help, bros.

She needs to contact the medical programs recruiter, each district should have one.

Echoing the above this friend of yours should start contacting a local medical recruiter. In the interim he or she can easily google tons of info about this.

Does she want to go to residency? If so, she might be better off looking at the Air Force and Army programs, as well as their associated reserve/guard component programs. Unless things have changed recently, the other services send you to residency in the military match more commonly than the Navy does. My better half is a doc and declined to join any service program in order to have the greatest opportunity to match in their only wanted specialty.

Have her join SDN and post in r/medicalschool and/or r/residency. She might get doc centric prospectives there.
