OCS 11AUG25 IWC BOARD // Nerd Thunderdome 2025

Accurate except for staffing shortages they won't cancel for that, they will just shift the date a few days or a week. It is not unusual for people to have schedules change so they just adjust the board, that is something that you won't know about as they won't change the board schedule if someone is coming back from say leave on a Wednesday.

If you contact NRC they also won't say anything as they are only able to disclose what is on the posted board schedule. There have been a few times when the board did shift and people were still being told the board had started. One of the good ones was when the senior board member who was stationed at NRC was visiting my district. I asked him if they did the board early and he said they hadn't they were just going to do it next week when he returned as it would only take a few hours. At the same time people on this very site were posting how their recruiters were telling them the board has convened, and a few USN AD were told by Paul that the board was starting on time, mind you Paul and the senior board member worked in the same office but he is only able to give the info posted. This is important to remember when those on AD ask Paul questions, he will often give an answer that you can find yourself publicly.
Im a bit confused as im USN AD and only submitted to the board that convenes tomorrow but somehow I was already selected and my Command received my Selection Letter for Intel

That’s what they said but I never applied for I-SEL

The July 11 PA for Intel mentions something about including an “enclosure (1)” as part of the application to the OCM for I-SEL consideration, but doesn’t elaborate much further on that front (could be the SF-86 or another admin doc, but I don’t know for certain). I also don’t think any Intel applicants at this board could have submitted their package with I-SEL in mind because it wasn’t even an option until the 11 July PA dropped. Considering you’ve already been picked up for it though, I think it’s a pretty good indication the OCM is already evaluating candidates against the new PA’s I-SEL criteria (even if you didn’t submit your packet with all the bits and bobs it outlined).

As for what that means for the wider applicant pool this board, I feel like it’s anyone’s guess really. At the end of the day, the whole I-SEL rodeo for Intel seems like recently broken ground, and nobody really knows how the Intel OCM is running things upstairs.

Are they going to fill this round’s available Intel slots with I-SEL folks? Who knows? Are they going to fill Intel’s FY quota this board and close out for another year? Ditto. It’s all just RUMINT and tea leaves at this point… 😂

Even though it references enclosure 1 there isn't anything that says what enclosure 1 is so it could be something that was going to be used but was then removed but that one part wasn't deleted.

It isn't unheard of when a new PA drops for the program managers to use it to help those it benefits right away.

I was close to not meeting the pre-req for I-SEL as I am at 5 years 11 months of service because it states anything over 5 years is not allowed but I think they used the perceived it as not hitting 6 years

Recruiter kept me sweating to the last minute on if I was making this board or not, but my package made it!

Applying for IP, First time!
Age: 30 (will be 31 this week)
OAR: 48
GPA: 3.26
Degree: CyberSecurity
Waivers: OAR
Work Experience: 14 years federal service/Intel Community in various areas mostly IT (10/14 years)
Certificaitons: Security+
While I have no prior military service I was able to get 3 Interview appraisals from current IPs (O4&O5) to help my package due to my OAR wiaver.

@bleedblueandgold – Now the real question is who we're bleeding blue and gold for here...'cause you and I can only do business if it's UCLA, Notre Dame, or Big Navy 😂
Big Navy. My family is all Navy in one way or another (Maternal Grandfather joined before being kicked out for lack of good teeth then went Army Air Corps then USAF, Paternal Grandfather did 20+ years CTI, Father did 23 years GM, Uncle and Cousin both USMC) then I married Navy.

Im super stoked for you man, I had an IP officer make it with a 12 on the OAR with a waiver. Anything is possible man good luck to you. I would also recommend applying for MWCO later this year as that correlates with me and your Bachelor’s degree
