Hello all, for anyone wondering about the title, there is a new series on hulu/Disney+ that follows a class as they move through advanced and thier struggles with different stages as they work toward getting thier wings. For anyone who has watched it, I was wondering if there is any truth to how informative and lenient the IP’s were during advanced regarding things like unsats and stuff or if it was just for entertainment as ive heard that IPs usually are more quiet and let you make your mistakes to criticize afterward unlike primary. Also what did everyone think of the show in general🤔?

Interesting. I just watched the first episode.

Cool to see Pancake as a skipper. He was a bro LSO instructor when I was a cat-1 stud at 106.

There's a lot of dramatic stuff added for the TV effect. I don't remember the strike pattern hops as being so live or die. Raining blue death was fun- and we did it via manual wire bombing. Honestly the advanced strike phase was the least stressful and most fun for me and most of my friends. We studied our asses off, but we were finally doing the stuff we wanted to do. El Centro is a great place that we all have a special love for.

The computer generated effects are bullshit and don't add anything.

It seems to be a good PR thing, and the flying scenes are pretty good. But it's entertainment, and not indicative of what the training program is really like.

I watched the first episode and your review seems spot on. I’m not a steely-eyed jet jock, but it struck me that these students already know how to fly the jet, now they are learning how to use it.
Yeah it documents the last 6 months of advanced, so skipping all the ground school and stuff

I watched episode II last night, noticed the student that had been struggling for a long time in FCLPs had a Mich Ultra in her hand during debrief!!

I'm guessing that real debrief happened earlier, she passed, and this was a re-do in front of the camera. Either that, or things have changed A LOT in TRACOM

Absolutely. They used to drink Bud Heavy.

That episode is annyoing because the narration makes it all about going to the boat and CQ, but basically ignores that it was fclps only.

The first 2 episodes feel pretty cringy, mostly with how extra dramatized it made it seem.
