Unfortunately, nothing can replace the crowdsourced bibliographic rigor of the current Wikipedia. It will definitely be missed. It seems pretty much every LLM is training itself on Wikipedia, essentially using it while its demise is being plotted.
This motherfucker is hardly a reliable opinion, given NVIDIA's monopoly on the technology that enables AI. His sanguine, dismissive view of the problem, as his company profits in unprecedented ways tells us everything we need to know about his motives. This is not a "fine" interview, Chuck. This is a disturbing interview, and you had best shed your tech guy fan boi mindset. It's disgusting.
Easy to be nonchalant when you're sitting on a winning lottery ticket. It'll be interesting to see what he has to say when this AI bubble pops.
It would also be nice for, y'know, individual customers* to be able to buy things like RAM and video cards again (thanks, Bitcoin!)- and at normal human prices.
*[rant] I have grown weary of the term "consumer" to describe individual buyers of mass market things. IMO, it dehumanizes customers and helps business types rationalize a whole lot of things. Not saying it would solve the problem of enshittification, but more reminders that we're all on the same journey through time and space would not be a bad thing. [/rant]

DoD/DoW GenAI.mil now have Gemini, Grok, and ChatGPT deployed with full agentic capability. I pointed an agent at a report that was taking a morning of effort and poof - it's complete.
There is an entire Military Performance Reporting agent approved for *all* services, enlisted, officer and civilian. It's very good. Load in your Commanders goals, member's inputs, supporting policy docs, and a rating official goal on where they want an individual to break out, and poof like magic a fitrep, signature ready, is produced!!!!

I gripe about FITREPS/Performance Reviews as much as the next self-respecting retired military officer, but the act of introspection is important. When AI is doing the heavy lifting on everything, are we getting the same human learning out of all of this?
There have been a lot of comparisons over the last decade or so of our society’s trajectory to the film WALL-E, but the growing use of AI is the first time I feel like there’s any meat to those arguments.

Funny, but true.
I think there's a very real risk of humans sacrificing too much agency to AI in the name of "efficiency", leading to loss of cognitive and executive function, lowered creativity, and less sense of purpose.
In other words, the things that make us human. I love tech, but as an enhancement for the human experience, not a replacement for it.
We need to be careful. The AI-pocalypse need not be Skynet.
Amen. I used to teach a course that required a ton of report writing, and I would always tell the students why it was important, "Clear writing is clear thinking."
Writing with clarity = thinking with clarity.
Not sure how this is going to work out. WALL-E meets Idiocracy is likely.
He'll have his hand out for a bail out. Something, something, world's most important chip maker... too big to fail, etc.
This will lead to an entire generation of leaders who cannot write or properly think.
Based on the level of writing clarity I see online, I'd say we're most of the way there already.
AW is well above average in that regard.
