Embry Riddle anyone?

Everyone is about to say how horrible Riddle is. They're just jealous because we are all extremely good-looking and the women are abundant in Daytona.
I've heard mostly good things about ERAU from students who recently graduated. Most went in with prior flight time and continued flying while enrolled. One graduated without a single flight hour to his name. Also heard good things about public universities' flight programs. ERAU isn't exactly popular for abundance of women, if that makes a difference to you.
For the love of God please don't go to Riddle for a useless aero science degree. You won't be able to do jack with it if you ever decide to get out of the aviation industry (assuming that's where you plan to use it). Don't waste $100,000 when you can get flight training anywhere for much cheaper. No, I didn't go to Riddle but I was in a colligate flight/ interview with a regional deal, and it's just not worth it. Sure it was a lot of fun because it was so easy, but you can learn to fly anywhere. Don't listen to all the hype about Riddle, they don't get any special privileges.

How much is tuition at ERAU, assuming a student never takes any flight lessons there? Because it has an awesome engineering program, I wouldnt see why it would be a bad idea to attend.
In State or out of State, its about a 14K dollar differnce last I heard.
I went to Riddle and I had an awesome time while I was there. However, I would not recommend going there now. The tuition has been almost doubled since I went there. Now they are also doing this retarded FAR Part 142 training where you will do a portion of your IFR AND VFR flying in simulators. WTF is up with that? Why do you want to spend just as much money for one hour in a Cessna simulator as you would on a real Cessna? The school says its to save money, but I am pretty sure you will spend just as much money as before but now the school is going to be pocketing all of the “saved” cash.
My advice, go to a state school and major in something you are interested in and in the mean time fly at an FBO. It will be easier, faster and cheaper. Also, you will get laid a lot more. If that last statement didn’t get through to you, nothing will.
I really did enjoy Riddle but I would not go to that school again if I had to go back to college today. You are just going to be taking it up the a**…financially speaking.

For sure I definitly hear you on the whole lady and money situation. But I am in a predicament where I cannot afford to blow another semester at a state school here in California. Every school in this state is a party school with top notch girls everywhere. Assuming I do get selected for PLC I could not afford to screw up in school. So I hear understand all the cons about the school, but it may seem reasonable for someone like me. Correct? Im not looking forward to even taking any lessons at ERAU. Im hoping the marines will pay for that portion. I too have been considering ERAU despite alot of the negative feedback, but maybe im missing something.
You're saying that if you stay in a CA school you'll blow your chances at PLC becasue you'll party too much? If you don't have the self control and discipline to do good at any school, you don't have what it takes to make it through flight training or even be a good officer.
If you want to intentionally go to a school where you will be shielded from having a social life, then Riddle is the place for you my friend. Seriously, if you only want to have to concentrate on school then I would recommend ERAU since you don’t intend to flying there. There are very few distractions for students there but you can still have a good time with your friends on the weekends . You will still pay a lot more for tuition than if you went to a state school. But its nothing compared to how the Aero Science students get raped for flight training costs. Also the Engineering department is top notch so you will get a good education.

PAP you hit the nail on the head! Your post was dead on! Agreeed with 100%! HAL PILOT, I think it was a slight misunderstanding. I have what it takes to be an officer in the military. I want this more than anything. Ive been busting my butt doing community service, working extra hours at work, meeting with all sorts of people hoping for LOR's, and working like crazy in school. Schools around here are definitly distractions. I want to be in an envrionment where I can study and concentrate only on school work. No offense taken by your post HAL pilot. Once again I thank all of you again.
I think you missed the point of what HAL pilot was trying to tell you. If you can't take care of business at one school, changing schools isn't going to help you. I'll give you an example. I go to ASU which is one of the larger party schools (not that I give a rats a$$) but I don't have problems because I have my priorities in order. If you really want to be a Marine aviator you have to make sacrifices. If you aren't willing to make sacrifices then stop wasting your time and everyone elses time who's helping you. Man up and get your work done.
OK, I understand what everyone is trying to tell the kid here. If you cant prioritize your school work over you’re your social life, how will you succeed as an Officer. However, if all he wants to do is go to school where he will feel more comfortable with the academic/social scene, what’s the big deal? Over time he will mature and put his priorities in order. You don’t have to start day one of college with your whole life figured out. That is what college is for.
