Today I signed my ground-to-air contract for PLC, yahoo! I haven't taken the flight physical yet and it's a bit ironic that I probably broke my foot surfing today as well. I hope this doesn't turn out bad, does anyone have experience with foot probs and NOMI? I would like to know how big of a deal it is.

On another note:
Did it ever just hit any of you (at some point) that you might just make it to your dream job? I don't want to get all giddy because I don't know when it is appropriate and I've got a long way to go. I tend to worry more about failing the next step than being happy that I made it this far in the process. With so many ways to wash out of the program on the quest for those gold wings, I'm surprised a lot of people don't go nuts! No, I dont need anxiety medication, but I am interested in any comments on the matter.

Thanks All

Awesome! I am sure all that experience from Civil Air Patrol is going to pay off big time! You definitely do not need to be so anxious given your time in grade.

Not to mention all those hours on Microsoft Flight Simulator! I should totally get points for armchair piloting.

Did anyone else ever practice "carrier approaches" using a plastic hornet model sliding down a fishing line attached to a stick, and a coffee table in the middle of the hallway? That is the kind of integral experience we CAP cadets received. :icon_wink

yeah congratulations. And yes, that hit me about 2 months ago. welcome aboard, and I will probably see you at OCS this summer. ooorah

So noted. Make sure to bring that up at Pensacola.

Make sure to bring that up at PLC; I'm sure your instructors could use that to good effect. In fact, why not bring your model and stick?

I just found out that I can't get my flight physical until I'm a senior due to understaffing and backup in Pensacola. Not cool. I don't like the idea of going to PLC before I know that I'm qualified for pilot-fo sho. Any advice other than to shut up and roll with it?

Alright, who hacked into my username and inserted a sig line? Why do strike eagles come to mind?

I don't know how they do the flight physical thing these days (it really hasn't been that long...) but my initial was done at an AF base. I then went off to OCS, TBS and was looked over again once I got down to P'cola. Are they saying you have to go to P'cola to get your initial flight physical?

Congratulations! Good luck on the flight physical. The eye tests didn't seem that much more difficult to me than the standard MEPS physical.

Yeah, I was supposed to get a free ticket down there for the physical before I contracted.
